Conference theme: 2020 Hindsight!

The deadline to submit proposals for our 2020 conference has been extended to Monday, December 9th. And this year, responses will be sent as applications are received.

With literature as a crossroads for knowledge—art, history, politics, science, religion, film, cultural studies—we once again welcome spirited participation on all aspects of Native American studies. We invite proposals for individual papers, panel discussions, readings, exhibits, demonstrations, and workshops.

We encourage proposals on the developments in our fields in the past 20 years, the legacies of those who created a path for us, and speculations on where we might be today without the works of the “Native American Renaissance.” Other topics might include current trends in language and land reclamation; new works in literature, art, music, film, philosophy, law, and science; or discussions of protecting intellectual sovereignty. Why? Because hindsight is always 20/20, and there is so much more to say about where we have been and where we are going!

Electronic submissions are preferred, but a printable Proposal Form can be found here. Please note that all responses and decision will be sent on rolling basis.

Nominations/Applications for the Beatrice Medicine Award for Scholarship in American Indian Studies due January 15, 2020. More on awards here.
